Our Future Wrapper

Stephen had to leave the shop to do a job, but we were waiting on the AC guy to arrive to fix the broken AC - kind of essential in the Texas heat. So, I grabbed Miles from school and we both went to the shop. Miles had a blast checking out all the cool Shorty's Wraps gear.

Selecting his future wrap colors

"OOOOOO!"

His choices

Before we left, Miles left the guys some notes. Just a little something to brighten their day!

Prince's Adoption

Omi got the girls these super cute little animal pillows awhile back and holy moly...they are SO soft. Todd was just super jealous of these pillows that when he put the girls to bed, he asks if he could borrow them. The girls always said no. So what did Omi do? You guessed it. Bought one for Todd too! Haha!

Meet Prince!

Well, the girls brought Prince over to our house the other day and Miles was drawn to it from the second he saw it. He brought it up and down, up and down the stairs and drug it everywhere that day. He would sit on it, body slam it, throw it and roll around the floor with it. It was hilarious to watch. I'd say it's safe to say Prince has been officially adopted.

Sorry Todd....

The body slam in slow mo:

"Oh Balls"

One for the books and one that makes me laugh out loud each time I tell the story....

Bri, one of my good friends from college, got the boys some really cute gifts. In the midst of texting her thank you, a gem of a story came to light.

*Talking about how Flick (Bri's daughter) and Miles match up. Flick has more words but Miles is more coordinated in terms of gross motor skills*
Bri:  "Instead of saying 'uh oh! oops!' Flick has started saying 'OH BALLS!' "

OH. MY. GOODNESS. I died. So the next morning, we asked Miles to say Good Morning to Flick:

hahahahaa!!

Bri and I have always been close - the same person, just different bodies in different cities. This continues to be true as she knows the exact way to our son's heart. TRUUUUCKS!

Bri, you are so sweet to think of them and we cannot wait to see Carson sporting his Beastie Boys get-up!

You've got a Friend in Me!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I LOVE having so many friends and family nearby. Miles (and Carson) are so lucky :)

Playing tag on the front porch

The neighbors came over for brisket one night and the kids were having SO much fun running around and "playing" (more like terrorizing) Lucy. Let's just say Lucy did not have as much fun.. haha!

Before we got the water table, we had to be a little more creative with our water play.... I don't think the kids cared much.

And lets not forget about Carson! Soon enough he'll be joining this wild and crazy bunch :)

IT Happened

What's "IT" you ask? This....this is IT

Yes, that is Miles climbing out of his crib. We were assuming this day would come but we weren't quite prepared for it to come this early. Miles has always loved his crib so I was hoping maybe, just maybe, he would be one of those kids that wouldn't climb out. Wrong I was.

Once he got out of his crib, he enjoyed some light reading (he's in his rocking chair in the corner)

To try and limit his abilities, Becky helped by sewing his sleep sacks more slender so he didn't have as much of a leg span to get his leg over the rail. Surely this would deter him, right? Nope. The next morning, we were awoken by a small creature standing next to our bed. "MAMA! DADA!" Yes. You guessed it. Our toddler knows how to climb out of cribs AND open doors. To this day, we have no idea what he did in between his room and ours.

I thought for sure we had left his room door cracked because he's never opened doors before. So, that same day during nap I watched as Miles climbed out of his crib and so patiently figured out how to open his door. I was feeding Carson and literally could do nothing but watch. Soon enough....a visitor emerged...

Our toddler, waddling in his newly sewn skinny sleep sack complete with bed head and his lovey in hand. Great. Now what...

That night, we put a lock on his door knob. He stayed in bed. Victory? I wasn't so sure. The next day during nap, he climbed out and learned to dislodge the lock from the door knob itself. Ugh! Thankfully he didn't open his door. Instead, he read books and was happy for awhile. That is until he wanted his lovey...the one he left in his bed when he climbed out. He couldn't reach it through the rails and quickly realized he couldn't get back IN his bed once he climbed out. He cried for about 30 minutes before deciding to read again.

He hasn't climbed out since...

Out of the woods? I'm not banking on it. But we'll take what we can get. When he decides to climb out again, we'll have to figure out our game plan at that point.

Win or Lose, it's all about the experience, right?

Stephen's been working a lot lately so I've been on my own with the boys. Nothing like baptism under fire right?? So, I've been tracking my winning (and losing) Mom moments. It's turned out to be quite entertaining....

5/9  8:16pm:  "Both kids fed, Miles got his movie+milk time, pjs, book and in bed happy with a clean, repeat CLEAN, lovey while Carson cried in the other room. He'd already been fed but he was angry. I proceeded to wrap him up, hold him while simultaneously pumping (a lot harder than it sounds just ps), swaying him back and forth with my legs, looking at graphic files for work AND talking to Stephenon the phone. Now, ladies and gentlemen, we have 2, count them 2, sleeping boys. Victorrryy!" *claps hands*

5/10  8:13pm:  "putting Miles to bed trying to be relaxed and happy while listening to Carson SCREAM in misery in the other room killed me tonight. One kid at a time will be my mantra....They're sleeping now, so I guess I won in the end. Proceeded to make myself dinner.... to then burn the crap out of my quesadilla...ugh! Can't catch a break" *face in hand*

5/11  8:15pm:  "Children have been fed, bathed, still alive and sleeping. I have been semi-fed, not bathed, partially alive and will trade sleep for wine. Win or fail? You choose"

5/12  9:50am:  I showered - let's count this as a win for the day

5/13  12:15pm:  "Miles drank beer this morning...now he smells like alcohol. Mom fail for the day.... Nothing a change of clothes and some wet wipes won't fix right???"
*** Back story:  We were outside and Miles found an empty beer can in the grass from the evening before. Well, I thought it was empty. He proceeded to tip it into his mouth for me to find out it definitely was NOT empty. He dumped it all over himself to then spit whatever was in his mouth all over his clothes.

5/14  2:46pm:  "fyi I'm throwing up. Earlier in the morning I found out fast what I would do if I was sick and needed to breastfeed Carson. I'd have a baby on the boob while on the toilet.... (sorry Carson) Not sure if this is a mom win (you know...for the effort!), a mom fail or a tie..."

5/16  5:03pm:  "Miles drank wine today. I guess he didn't get enough of the beer. I just can't win can I?? I should stop counting my wins vs. fails because this is becoming depressing. haha!" *Big sigh*
*** Back story:  Miles has been really into ice lately. I had my almost empty wine cup on the counter and he ate all the half melted ice out of it before we realized. oops!

And that's where I ended it people. Chalk it up to you do what you have to do. Saver the wins and take all the fails with a grain of salt. It's called parenting. With these cuties, it's all worth it. :)
