Carson had his 4-month doctor's visit and scored with flying colors! The doc said he looks great and is above average for his gross motor skills, which is awesome! I went in wondering how Carson would measure up compared to Miles. Take a look!
CARSON:
Weight: 15lbs 7oz - 40th%
Height: 25" - 28th%
Head: 50th%
MILES @ 4Mo:
Weight: 15lbs 8.5oz - 65th%
Height: 25" - 56th% (Not sure the reason behind the difference in percentage since they're the same height...?)
Head: 44th%
What we've learned? They're pretty dang close.

First Day of School!
Yesterday was Miles' first day of school in the 2s room! At meet the teacher, we found out a lot of the kids in his class were kids he'd been in school with since the beginning. So, that was good to see. We were hoping it would help create a smooth transition to see familiar faces.
We got him all ready in the morning in time for the required and necessary first day of school pics. He was so excited!
To make things even more fun, this is Charlie and Lizzie's first year at the same MDO program. Because of how their birthday falls, they are in the class below Miles. Regardless though, they were happy to see each other.
Drop off went pretty well for everyone I'd say. Miles walked into his class like he owned the place. He put his things away, washed hands and headed out to the playground. It was only at that point that he started to get clingy. Stephen said his goodbyes, I gave one last big hug and we left. He cried which broke my heart :( But, as we were driving away, I saw he was already out and about playing with the kids. So, that made me feel better.
At pickup, the room was still dark! ALL of the kids were still sleeping. Mrs. Dorothy said (knock on wood) it was an amazing day and the kids did fabulously! Great news!
Today, Miles was excited to head off to school - this time, just with Dad as that will be the system here on forward. A few tears at drop off again. But we know he loves school, so I have a good feeling things will mellow out once he gets more familiar with the teachers and our new schedule.
Mike and Natalie said the girls did well. They cried. She cried. But all in all, a fairly smooth drop off. At pickup, their teachers said they did well. One ate, one didn't. One slept, the other didn't. But hey - first big school experience and they rocked it!
Cheers to friends. Cheers to classmates. Cheers to the kind and patient teachers who are so sweet to our kiddos. And cheers to this next year. Our kids are growing up too fast...

Hugs for Lizzie! She was so ready! |
Charlie was a little unsure. But Miles was there to offer some reassurance |
The Three Musketeers walking into school. So big. *heart melts* |

We got a picture of Miles' teacher in the mail today.
Me: "Miles, look! It's your teacher! Ms. Dorothy. She's looks so nice. It's your teacher for school!"
Miles: [hold the picture and looks closely] "OO! Hiiii teeeterrr! *Gasp* TEETER!"

Four -- 4 -- IIII
It's been four months. FOUR since this little booger made his quick and exciting debut. He's been nothing but amazing and we are so excited to find out what's to come.
His pedi is booked pretty tight, so I don't have his stats just yet. But stay tuned as I'll post those once I get them. But in the meantime, let's dive into what this guy is up to.
** A huge thanks to Becky for the amazing photos!! She setup her photography studio for the girl's first day of school pics and all of these pictures turned out so great! Check out her blog to see the official shots of the girls **
Watch out world! This cool dude is just getting warmed up. To see all of Carson's monthly photos, go here.
All about "Carchee":
- Does what we call "angry talk" before falling asleep. It's like he fighting sleep with his voice and then gives up and passes out
- Likes when his head is jostled around when being put to sleep
- Wearing 3-6 month clothes in all brands besides Carters. 6 months at Carters. Size 2 diapers which are big but helping the multiple blow-out issues we were having
- He seems like a chunkster but we won't know for sure how he compares to Miles and other kids until his doc appointment in a couple weeks
- Is getting more interested in his feet but hasn't found them yet
- Eating 6 oz every 3 hours pretty consistently but still sleeping only 45 to an hour per nap. Hoping to get some longer naps as he gets older
- Still no schedule but 2 hours of awake time between naps seems to be our sweet spot
- His hair is coming in!
- Talking about being naked or being a chunky monkey makes him giggle
- He is super chill which can be tricky because he doesn't always ask to eat. If he gets "hangry", he is so upset it's hard to get him to calm down enough to eat.
- He's attended a few parties now and does pretty well in a crowd!
- Has a noticeable sad/pout face and pushes his bottom lip out when upset
- Just like Miles, his feet are really clammy. So gross
- He's still rolling from front to back but needs a little help when he moves his arms and gets stuck in the middle. He's also rolling to his side while playing on his mat.
- Holding and reaching for things and bringing them to his mouth
- Loooves sticking out his tongue
- Super smiley
- The binky is something he's beginning to refuse/doesn't want. He's not upset if you give it to him, but most of the time he spits it out.
- His baby blues are insane. They are similar to Miles but seems to be more saturated. So pretty
- Miles still calls him Carchee and loves to give him kisses. Carson also throws out some smiles for him which he thinks is pretty fun
- Still loves his hands and is drooling everywhere
- He's still a great nightly sleeper and consistently wakes up just once per night. He's also sprinkled in a few all nighters which is great!
- The TV interests him and he likes to watch when it's on
And because these photos were SO cute, we had to grab some of Miles too. I heart these so much!!
Annnnnd while we are at it. Let's throw them all in together! A 2-year old, a baby and 3 awesome cousins all smiling and looking at the camera. Super easy...yea right. But! Our daily life. Now. Documented. (We attempted Miles and Carson together and it was an epic fail haha)
Happy 4 months buddy! You are joining a fun group of sweet, caring, goofy and giggly kiddos! You'll fit right in.
Ps. Let's just take a minute to appreciate the date! Official 4 months TODAY *pats on back*

Baby it's .....HOT... Outside
Summer vacation is coming to an end for the cousins and Miles is not ready to lose his mid-day playmates. But! I think the girls are pumped to get back and I know (while it's only been 12 days since Miles is only out for the month of August), Miles is itching to get back as well.
Oh Texas....you've been hot...REALLY hot... but it's been fun.
He's getting so good, it's crazy. Ps. It's 9am. It's hot. His pjs needed a breather!
My parents got Miles this little trike for his birthday. It's a little big for him now, so Lia happily offered to "drive" him around |
"Mud Trucks" |
Shout-out to Bri for the cutie outfit!! |
It seems as though they're related, yea? |
