Yall - Miles is starting school in just a couple weeks! So, we're officially enjoying our last days of summer. I'm excited, but nervous, about him starting a new venture, but know he'll thrive. He's such a lovable, smiley, curious and sweet little boy...aside from a few bites. (Is it bad I'm expecting a call explaining my kid has bit someone?? *face in hand*....)
Anyway, I just wanted to catch yall up on all the random happenings around here. Enjoy!
12 Month Check-up: Weight: 22lbs 9oz - 64th% Height: THEY measured 31.4" but he jumped way up on the spectrum to the 89th% - which is way off from where's he's been. Our doctor told us they probably stretched him too much. When we got home, I measured him and got 30.75" which is about the 65th%. More believable...
He can walk, but he's still that little puppy we know and love :P
What happens when Dad does bath...curly alfalfa

Checkin out Dad and Uncle Todd's new toy!
Fourth of July - Fireworks - Double fisting
Joy ride in Dad's new truck!
Hm....where have YOU been?
.....Stephen??....
Lia camped out and watched the guys work for probably 30 min. 2 min after this photo, she leaned back and toppled over backwards. Hilarious
The last few days of our Tahoe trip were super relaxing. Most of the days were spent outside on the patio just soaking up the sun. This place is so peaceful and the changes in temperature throughout the day really adds an element we are not used to here in Texas. At night, temps would drop to the low 50s. During the day, highs were in the 80s. PERFECT
Ice Cream @ Susie's Ice Cream - a local hot spot
Miles thoroughly enjoyed
At Garwoods for Dinner. Yes, the Wet Woodys were as good as I remembered :D
Playing peek-a-boo with the napkin
Cruising the beach with Omi after dinner
Even though the smoke was bad and we knew the views weren't going to be great, we decided to head up the Gondola at Heavenly anyway. It's a fun time and something Miles has never done. The last time we rode it was when we came to Tahoe for our wedding anniversary in 2013. A fun before baby/after baby adventure!
View on the way up the mountain
Same pic of us back in 2013 - life is a bit different nowadays :P
And another good side-by-side of the smoke.
View of the lake on the way down from the peak
You can barely see the coastline...The lake was totally covered with smoke
Our last night in Tahoe, the grandparents offered to take over bedtime so Stephen and I could go on a date - something we haven't done in a long time. We opted to go to a place right adjacent the Truckee river - the place Grammie and Grandpa went on their last anniversary together. It was cool to go somewhere with such great memories and Stephen and I were excited to get out, reconnect and enjoy the views. It was such a fun night, and we definitely appreciate the grandparents holding down the fort with the little guy. It was a good night for everyone I'd say!
Lounging before bed
Grammie reading Miles his bedtime story - OMG Adorable
The next day, we headed out around noon to head back to the airport and rinse/repeat the travel day all over again. I won't go into detail....but we made it. *wipes brow*
Travel day down and we are ready to enjoy the time in Tahoe. We always look forward to the weather and the clear crisp air. Unfortunately, because of the fires in California, the area was covered in residual smoke. Grammie said that it's been this way for the entire month of August and some of July. It's pretty sad.
Here's a side by side. The first photo is Stephen a couple months ago. The second pic is Stephen and I on the boat this time around. We were in the same area, the same distance from the shore.
It was a clear, sunny day. But all you see is white because of the smoke :(
The smoke killed the view, but it was also killing everyone's sinuses. A total bummer. But, we made the best of it.
We decided to take the boat out and have a water picnic. We headed out to a place Stephen used to go to as a kid with great views of the rocky cliffs. Because Miles did so well the day before, we were pumped to get him out again.
Lounging with Omi! (look at that face. lol!)
At the wheel with O-pop
Once we got back, we spent the afternoon relaxing. I'm so pumped to have grabbed this super adorable shot of him with Grammie. My only requirement for the whole trip!
Swoon!
That day we also ventured out to the beach to play around a bit.
Some stranger left a bait basket out and it had a bunch of crawdads in it.
So of course, Stephen took one out to play with. ha!
Miles was VERY interested
When Grammie and Grandpa bought this lake house, they helped clean up the beach area and get the lake ready for docks. At that time, Grandpa put in this flagpole. The grandkids all put their hand prints in the concrete to commemorate the fun times.
This flagpole means a lot to Stephen and his family, especially since Grandpa is no longer with us. It's definitely been a staple in many great memories:
Stephen with Grandpa in Tahoe when the flagpole was built. Stephen: age 5 (That's a guess - Denise will need to confirm)
2010: Stephen and my engagement! Same location
2018: Miles: Age 1!
It was a pretty special moment for Stephen and Miles to have :)
