Win or Lose, it's all about the experience, right?

Stephen's been working a lot lately so I've been on my own with the boys. Nothing like baptism under fire right?? So, I've been tracking my winning (and losing) Mom moments. It's turned out to be quite entertaining....

5/9  8:16pm:  "Both kids fed, Miles got his movie+milk time, pjs, book and in bed happy with a clean, repeat CLEAN, lovey while Carson cried in the other room. He'd already been fed but he was angry. I proceeded to wrap him up, hold him while simultaneously pumping (a lot harder than it sounds just ps), swaying him back and forth with my legs, looking at graphic files for work AND talking to Stephenon the phone. Now, ladies and gentlemen, we have 2, count them 2, sleeping boys. Victorrryy!" *claps hands*

5/10  8:13pm:  "putting Miles to bed trying to be relaxed and happy while listening to Carson SCREAM in misery in the other room killed me tonight. One kid at a time will be my mantra....They're sleeping now, so I guess I won in the end. Proceeded to make myself dinner.... to then burn the crap out of my quesadilla...ugh! Can't catch a break" *face in hand*

5/11  8:15pm:  "Children have been fed, bathed, still alive and sleeping. I have been semi-fed, not bathed, partially alive and will trade sleep for wine. Win or fail? You choose"

5/12  9:50am:  I showered - let's count this as a win for the day

5/13  12:15pm:  "Miles drank beer this morning...now he smells like alcohol. Mom fail for the day.... Nothing a change of clothes and some wet wipes won't fix right???"
*** Back story:  We were outside and Miles found an empty beer can in the grass from the evening before. Well, I thought it was empty. He proceeded to tip it into his mouth for me to find out it definitely was NOT empty. He dumped it all over himself to then spit whatever was in his mouth all over his clothes.

5/14  2:46pm:  "fyi I'm throwing up. Earlier in the morning I found out fast what I would do if I was sick and needed to breastfeed Carson. I'd have a baby on the boob while on the toilet.... (sorry Carson) Not sure if this is a mom win (you know...for the effort!), a mom fail or a tie..."

5/16  5:03pm:  "Miles drank wine today. I guess he didn't get enough of the beer. I just can't win can I?? I should stop counting my wins vs. fails because this is becoming depressing. haha!" *Big sigh*
*** Back story:  Miles has been really into ice lately. I had my almost empty wine cup on the counter and he ate all the half melted ice out of it before we realized. oops!

And that's where I ended it people. Chalk it up to you do what you have to do. Saver the wins and take all the fails with a grain of salt. It's called parenting. With these cuties, it's all worth it. :)

May Update

I've been a little behind on my posts lately, so I'm taking this double nap to catch up!

Getting creative in our game play while Dad is at work

2 minutes playing with the newly built car slide and distracted by cups. Cup which would entertain him for 30 minutes...

Oh to be a kid...

Lately, it's been a regular thing to go out and play in the water table or with the hose. Miles has been loving it. Just this past evening, we were outside and Miles was all red in the face. So, we filled up the water table and let him have at it! But, before doing so, we stripped him down to his naked self. We don't normally have him play naked, but it was just him and he'd been suffering from a pretty gnarly diaper rash. So we thought, what the heck. Go for it kid! But then....

"MILES IS NAKED!!" - screams Lia from the back patio. And the conversation continues...

Lia:  "Why is Miles naked???!"
Bob-o:  " Because he's playing in the water"
Lia:  "Halle look at his BUTT!"  *giggles*
Erin:  "I want to see!!!"
Lia:  "Halle, get down so Erin can get up here and see Miles' BUTT!" *giggles*
....Erin proceeds to trade places with Halle.....
Lia:  "MILES TURN AROUND!"
Bob-o:  "Why does he need to turn around?"
Lia:  "Oh, just because...." In a softer voice..."Erin wants to see his butt!!!" *giggles*

Entertainment you can't buy ladies and gentlemen. lol!

one month old!

I'm late in posting, but Carson is ONE MONTH OLD! Time is just flying by. I remember feeling the same way about Miles when he was this tiny. Soon enough, these boys will take over the household with their craziness and I can't wait!

The inspiration photo for this month :)

This is the last month that we'll likely be able to accomplish a sleeping photo, so we took advantage! Let me tell you though, it wasn't easy. Some behind the scene shots lol

Trying to adjust head position

Have to make sure the hat looks right!

And the spit...lots of it

Some fun tid-bits about Carson:
- Squeaks when he eats
- Loud and expressive during the day but decently quiet at night
- Does not like to be swaddled when awake but loves it when sleeping
- We are out of the muslin swaddles. Tried the halos, but moved straight to the miracle blanket
- He poops A LOT
- He has a lot of happy awake time a seems to fight going to sleep during the day. It's like he feels like he'll miss out on things
- His eyes are BLUE
- Does not like the swing. Right now he seems to prefer the bassinet to sleep. Totally different from Miles!
- Wiggles a lot in his sleep. We put him down in the middle of the bed and by the time he wakes up, he's wiggled to the far end of the bassinet
- Loves walks in the stroller and rides in the car as long as his mood is in the right place
- Seems to like soft sways and bounces as opposed to pats when trying to go to sleep
- Takes a bit to get comfortable in the sling/wrap. But, after he relaxes and succumbs to the fact that he's stuck in there, he falls asleep and seems quite peaceful
- SO close to getting a smile
- Likes his hands by his face when he eats
- Wearing newborn size in all but Carters. Moved up to 3mo Carters clothes
- Is doing well with tummy time so far!
- Eating 3-4 oz every 3-4 hours but spans 5 hours at night
- His back is ticklish :P
- He sleeps with his tongue out!
- His favorite spot by far is his changing table. He loves to look at the blinds and laying here relaxes him almost instantly

Happy one month to our littlest little man!

Because I was Curious

In some photos, Carson and Miles look SO similar, but in others, not so much. In real life, I don't see much of Miles in Carson, but I can't decide if it's because he's almost 2 and I don't remember. Only time will tell, but I thought these comparison photos would be fun.

So! I don't know what will happen. We will just have to wait and see!
