A sneak peek into life with this goober:
- He talks constantly! Up until about a month ago, a lot of his words were muddled and hard to understand. But, after ruling out hearing issues and starting Zyrtec, his speech is flourishing! He is putting his words together into phrases and can get his point across pretty quickly. "Mama, mo ice peez", "Uh oh! Chochoo all gone", "Dada tuck. Dada bye bye!"
- He thinks "bobos" (bugs) are super interesting and studies them when we're outside
- This kid is obsessed with ice. "ICE ICE ICE ICE!! MAMA ICE!" and runs to the fridge.
- He's learned how the ice and water dispenser on the fridge works and is tall enough to help himself (much to Stephen's and my delight....don't worry, we've figured out how to lock it)
- Wearing 2T clothes, 3T jammies
- He's had all of his baby teeth for quite some time now. His 2-year molars are up next and no signs of those yet.
- Since he started crawling, we knew he had excellent gross motor skills. That is still so true.
- We've dropped the afternoon nap so he sleeps just once a day in the late morning/early afternoon. On non-school days 11:15-2:30 or so and at school they nap from 12-2. He loves his sleep and more times than not, he's still sleeping at school pickup
- He's in love with his nighttime lovies and has put favoritism on each of them. The bunny is his favorite at home and will only allow the elephant to be brought to school. The bear is a decent sub when the others are being washed but isn't loved as much as the others. I sent a different one to school and the teachers said he looked at it, looked at them like they were crazy and proceeded to dig in his backpack for the elephant. Sadly, it was being washed that day....
- Isn't identifying shapes by name, but is a rockstar at shape puzzles. Still working on colors
- He has spent countless hours trying to master the art of buckles. He's learned how to put them together, but isn't quite strong enough to release them
- Calls balloons bubbles ha!
- He loves his brother "Carchee" and is 95% of the time super sweet with him. Gives him kisses, nice pats and hugs. But sometimes, he doesn't know is own strength. If he's caused Carson to cry, he is very concerned and starts to cry as well.
- Miles is obsessed with his cousins, Yaya (Lia) in particular, and plays amazing with them. I'm loving this age where we can release the reigns a little and let him play without being by his side the whole time
- He's having a hard time following directions but seems to mind better if offered a "tweet" (treat). A lot of it seems to be testing the boundaries as far as what he can and can't get away with.
- The times of "oh he's just a baby. he doesn't know" are out the window. Because he's not talking as much, we underestimate how much he understands. But believe me - he understands just fine. We've realized the time of baby management is over and parenting a full blown toddler has begun. Definitely a wake up call!
- We've moved Carson into his room fearing he'd wake up Miles in the middle of the night. But Miles has done great. When woken up, he rolls around, find his bunny and goes back to sleep with no assistance from us
- He's begun the clingy phase and is a little skeptical of new people, especially if I'm around. If new people try to talk to him, he comes running to me and hides behind my legs. It takes him awhile to adapt to new teachers at school, but after a bit, warms up to them no problem!
- Miles loves to be in the mix and play, but also does well playing alone. He does get bored after awhile and makes a b-line for the areas he knows he shouldn't be. ie: the pantry, junk drawer, freezer...
- He loves his crib and even though he's learned to climb out, it hasn't been a big thing at night. We've put him in his snuggie (sleep sack) backwards to reduce his ability to get out. I say "reduce" because some days we still find him in his room with no snuggie, no diaper, having peed in the bed. Bottoms to sleep are a requirements these days
- Loves to "sing" (swing) and takes a lot of convincing to get off
- Loves anything cars, "tuuuck" or "Mon tuck" (Truck or monster trucks), "lalas" (helicopters) or "air-bs" (airplanes)
- Understands 'first this, then this' concept when has made it a lot easier to give him direction
- His stick to ball coordination is insane. Golfing must be in his genes
- Looooves "nanas" and will seek them out after we've gone grocery shopping
- Calls things by the noise they make instead of what they are ie: Trains="choochoo", Cat="Mooow", Birds="teet teet"
- Boy aka diggers of dirt. So true, so true
- When asked to dance, he shimmies! So funny
- I thought he was a picky eater, but then I get his report cards from school and he's tried, and likes, almost everything they give him for snack. But, when I try those exact snacks at home, he wants nothing to do with them
- When we wakes up he yells out "mama! MaMa! MAMA!!!" Increasingly louder each time
- He calls out for his water like he expects his water to respond. "Miles, where's your water?"... "WAWA?! WAWA?!"
Baby boy...we can't believe you are already 2!!
