Outtakes

While photographing the "day in the life" post, I took photos over the course of a few days. I didn't want to miss anything, so figured I'd be safe and keep the up the paparazzi lifestyle for a couple more days. I ended up using all of the first days' pictures to keep consistent with clothing, etc., so here are some of the outtakes!

Stephen doing his morning hellos:

Wearing his "I see" = Sunglasses

"Okay Miles, Dada's turn. You push!"

The Devlins came over to watch the Alabama game and to have the kids play. We were lucky that the weather was nice and got to do our first fire of the season! Mike's mom was in town so she watched the girls so Mike and Natalie could come hang out too! It's also camping season, so like before, the Gates were out of town. But we made sure to have a "who has the best fire" debate throughout the evening.

Alabama was losing, so the kids were helping Mike raise his spirits

Tomorrow will be 80, so lets soak in the chilly fire night while we can!

Big boy holding his own bottle!

Miles was working on a drawing and comes running "Mama! A lala!!" Lala=helicopter. Tell me you don't see it!

Gates are back!! Fishing with Ta Ta and Dada

"A dish!! Haaaand?!"

So I bought diapers from Target online, and they used an insane...INSANE amount of bubble plastic.

Miles was in heaven

Just a dad and his boys :)

7 . Months . Old

SEVEN! We can't believe it. I remember when Carson was teeny tiny and Stephen and I were just waiting for that day he'd be ferbered so we could sleep. So weird and sad to think that day has come and gone, but we're pumped for the milestones up ahead :)

To see how much Carson has grown since his teeny tiny state, go here.

Carson @ 7:
- He is a consistent sitter and will sit there for as long as he wants. He hasn't figured out how to get out of the sitting position yet, so he'll look at you and whine for help.
- Kicking his legs constantly
- Loves spitting and blowing raspberries
- Current favorite toys:  his bouncer, crunchy books, the squeaky toy bug with the pink ball nose and the pink ball with little nubs all over
- He laughs when you read him books that rhyme. Particularly Llama llama and Goodnight Construction Site
- Trying to plank and can bring his knees under his belly. We've got the start of rocking but no forward progression yet.

- Can move backwards, roll all ways and spin 360 degrees on his belly
- He's ticklish :)  You can really get him to giggle with his feet and his back
- Prefers to sleep on his belly
- Has TWO teeth! He's getting used to them by rubbing his tongue on them in weird ways....which leads to pretty hilarious faces
- He is still super smiley, but the tongue smiles have minimized (not gone! just less) since getting teeth
- Does this squeal to silence when he laughs really hard
- Loves to play with jacket strings
- Makes piggy noises
- The top of his head is always hot
- Wearing 90% Cat & Jack with some Old Navy. Those brands seem to fit best. 6-9 months currently fits perfectly but likely will be moving up in the next month or so if he continues on this growth path. Still in size 3 diapers
- Getting better at eating solids. Currently eating one "meal" per day which consists of one small package of food. We've tried finger foods and he gags. He also gags when switching flavors. A slow go for him as compared to Miles, but we'll get there
- Still drinking 6-8 oz 4 times daily
- Our schedule, like mentioned before, is consistent but all based on the length of his naps at that time. Generally speaking, he wakes up between 7-8am, takes 3 naps during the day (a mix of short and long) with about 2 hours between naps (sometimes longer) and goes to bed around 7:30pm.
- The sucking of the burp rags is still a go-to activity
- Drool...oh the drool

That face :)

Runner up for the monthly photo. Those teeth!

And because it's fun, some outtakes from our photo shoot....

You, sweet babe, are one of a kind. We love you!!

A Day in the Life - UPDATE

Life sure has changed since our original Day in the Life post. Most notably, the addition of sweet baby Carson :)

At the time of this post:  Carson = 7 months
                                                      Miles = 2 years 4 months

Let's do this!

Note:  The gates were out of town on the day I chose to photograph. Hence why the girls, Becky & Todd are not to be found. I promise, we still hang out! And they were definitely missed. Also, Carson was in the midst of getting over his HFM, so he's a little flushed.

Our good mornings are double sweet these days. Seeing those little faces peering over the crib is something you just can't beat.

Checking the monitors in the morning to see if they're rolling around

It was a school day, so the morning was pretty full. While Miles drinks his milk and watches a show, Carson plays for awhile before his morning bottle.

Guess what yall?! Carson's tooth finally popped through! After a few days of being super fussy, he now has TWO TEETH!

The rest of the morning is spent giving Miles breakfast, getting dressed, making his lunch, prepping all of his school stuff, etc while Carson plays in the living room. We are typically ready and out the door by 8:45am.

Ready for school and out the door to "Da Da Truuuuck - Mize HAA!". It was COLD so they both got to wear their hats.

Once Miles is out the door, it's my turn to get dressed and put Carson down for his morning nap. During nap is my time to get some work done. His morning nap varies from his short 45 minute style naps, or he could sleep for 2+ hours. We never really know these days.

We have ourselves a belly sleeper

Exactly at the 45-minute mark....*SPIIIIIT* *Raspberriessss*... Carson's awake! And the routine continues - eat, play and more play!

Saying hi to Da Da!

He's making headway moving across the floor - it's just typically in the backwards direction

Lucy likes to get involved in the action during the day too!

I usually work when Carson is happily playing. But I thought it would be funny to see just what he's up to. So, I setup my phone on a hyperlapse for about 10-minutes. This was him scaled down to 35 seconds.

Off to nap #2!

1:45pm:  If not already awake, I have to wake Carson up. Sorry sweet boy. Time to pickup Miles!

He's been liking to climb over the seat from the back area. Thinks it's pretty fun

Once we get home, it's snack time for both boys. After snack, it's their time together. Carson LOVES just watching Miles be Miles.

Miles' new favorite activity

I try my best to take care of emails and attend to work, but after Miles is home, it's a lot more difficult. Making sure 1. Carson stays alive with his rough and tumble toddler brother and 2. Miles gets the attention he needs as not to succumb the "oh let me throw this toy across the room. THAT will get her off her computer..." is a lot to handle sometimes. ha!

On this day, Carson had a nice nap schedule and fell back to sleep around 3:45pm. Miles watched a show while I buttoned up work stuff.

Me:  "Miles, do you want to go play with Charlie and Lizzie?"
Miles:  "CHARRRR-ZZZIIIIIEEE!!!!" and runs to the door

... playdate commence!

"The Nugget" is a main attraction

Look at that air! ha!

Sweet Charlie

Lizzie in her baking outfit - omg. love.

Don't worry....Carson was there too

The Devlins graciously offered to give Miles dinner, and I happily obliged since Stephen wasn't home yet. I think all the kids liked the extra time together.

Yay! Stephen's home!!

We said our goodbyes to Charlie, Lizzie, Mike and Natalie and headed home for milk and bedtime routine.

Today's film of choice:  "Mouuu"

Kiss night night for Carson

Night night sweet boys!

We did it! Another day of making memories, molding our boys into decent and loving humans, being patient, being patient again, embracing all the hugs, all the giggles and all the smiles because man oh man, those boys deserve all of it! Cheers to adult time!!
