Camping on a bed of pine needles

Our camping crew set out to Bastrop State Park in search of a fun camping trip before the summer season made camping unbearable. The weather looked pretty gloomy and rainy, but we pressed on - hopeful we'd get some good stints here and there between showers. I'm so happy we did because in true Texas fashion, the weather was not nearly as bad as was originally predicted. Yay for us!

I was so excited to go to Bastrop because I've heard so many amazing things about the huge pine trees and pine needles all over the ground. It's not your normal mud and grass style camping and this campsite did not disappoint. The trees were simply amazing :)

Erin was riding her scooter down the hill like a skateboard. Pretty cool

Scooter gang!

It was supposed to rain so we tried to squeeze in a hike prior to the showers hitting

Before....

After! Yes - we did get stuck in a little rain shower, but it didn't last long. Carson and Lia were the only ones dressed for the occasion lol

Out catching fireflies. We were pretty successful too!

Stephen, me and the boys left for part of Saturday to attend Miles' baseball ceremony, but it looks like the girls had a blast playing in the rain

Scooter ride prior to getting in trouble by park officials... turns out motorized scooters are not allowed on the trails.
